1. N08367 material introduction
The high nickel(24%) and molybdenum(6.3%) contents of the AL-6XN alloy give it good resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking. The molybdenum confers resistance to chloride pitting. The nitrogen contact of AL-6XN alloy serves to further increase pitting resistance and also gives it higher strength than typical 300 series austenitic stainless steels, and thereby often allows it to be used in thinner sections. The high levels of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen in AL-6XN alloy all serve to produce exceptional corrosion resistance for this formable and weldable stainless steel.

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
Mechanical Properties at Room Temperature
The presence of Nitrogen in AL-6XN alloy gives it higher strength than is typical austenitic stainless steels. The material is an extremely stable austenite which does not transform to martensite even under extensive deformation(as exhibited by the alloy’s low magnetic permealility even after heavy deformation). AL-6XN alloy is thus a moderately strong material which still exhibits the ductility and formability of the traditional austenitic stainless steels.
Typical mechanical properties for annealed sheet material are listed below:
Yield Strength 55,000psi
380MPa
Tensile Strength 110,000psi
760MPa
Elongation 45%
Reduction of Area 60%
Hardness RB 90
BHN 185
R30T 72
