1.UNS N04400 Monel 400 description

Monel 400 is a Nickel-Copper alloy, resistant to sea water and steam at high temperatures as well

as to salt and caustic solutions.

Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in a wide variety of media.

Monel 400 is characterized by good general corrosion resistance, good weldability and moderate

to high strength. The alloy has been used in a variety of applications. It has excellent resistance to

rapidly flowing brackish water or seawater. It is particularly resistant to hydrochloric and

hydrofluoric acids when they are de-aerated. The alloy is slightly magnetic at room temperature.

Monel 400 is widely used in the chemical, oil and marine industries.

2.What is ASTM B474

This specification covers electric fusion welded pipe suitable for high-temperature or corrosive service.

The pipes are designated into five classes namely Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, Class 4 and Class 5,

according to how they are to be welded. The joints shall be full penetration double-welded or single-

welded butt joints employing fusion welding processes. The furnished pipe shall undergo heat treatment

and a chemical analysis shall be employed for both plate and weld. Each pipe shall be subjected to

transverse tension test, transverse guided weld bend test and hydrostatic pressure test.

6.What is SAW PIPE?
